Britannica Connects Britannica School and ImageQuest for Expanded Search Results;User feedback guides introduction of new feature linking popular classroom resources
Chicago, Ill. (PRWEB) May 27, 2015 -- Britannica Digital Learning has brought together two of its most popular educational products to make classroom work and research easier and more effective for students and teachers.
Subscribers of both Britannica® School, a comprehensive classroom information source, and Britannica ImageQuest™, a database of nearly three million high-quality rights-cleared images, can now search images in ImageQuest directly from within Britannica School.
Both award-winning classroom products have grown in popularity, and with more schools and school districts subscribing to both products, users have expressed an interest in integrating and expanding their search results to include articles, primary sources, magazines, and a wider selection of images on the same topic.
“These two Britannica resources—Britannica School and ImageQuest—are must-haves for our district,” said Library Media Specialist Emily Squires of Dunbar Elementary School in Memphis, Tenn.
“It makes perfect sense to integrate access to these two resources,” said Michael Ross, general manager of Britannica Digital Learning and a senior vice president at Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc. “Students today are expected to demonstrate ‘visual literacy’ along with reading comprehension, and to incorporate text and relevant images into reports, papers, and projects. ImageQuest gives them a vast trove of additional images for every subject and shows them how to cite visual content properly.”
The integration of the two products also comes at a time when fines are being levied more frequently for the unauthorized use of copyrighted images, particularly those taken from the Internet. ImageQuest users have no fear of this, since all of the images in it are authorized for educational use.
Schools that add either Britannica School or ImageQuest to their current subscriptions before June 30 will receive a twenty-five percent discount on the cost of the second product. Interested customers can call (800) 621-3900 or go to http://info.eb.com.
