The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS), one of the UKs largest trade union organizations, has installed a live chat service on their website to ensure effective communication with its members.

The PCS, which boasts over 240,000 union members, has installed Click4Assistance live chat software to ensure it could meet its communication needs.

The union, which represents the UK civil service and held its annual conference earlier this month, handles over 300 messages a day, which before the live chat support installation, could take several days to resolve even the smallest membership issue.

Andrew Simpson, Head of ITT and Membership at the PCS says the web chat software has helped improve member support and reduced turnaround time.

“So far, we can safely say that visitors have been thoroughly impressed with the new live chat facility,” says Simpson. “The service has been described as ‘fast, efficient and knowledgeable’ and one member even remarked that we are now ‘at the forefront of new technology’.

Simpson adds that as a democratic organisation, run by members for members, communication is at the heart of the company’s mission, and the live chat software has allowed staff in his department to focus on other tasks but still maintain a high standard of customer service.

“We would like to thank Click4Assistance for their hard work throughout the installation process and would highly recommend the company’s services,” adds Simpson.

CEO of Click4Assistance, Gary Martin, says he is pleased their website chat software has helped improve member support for PCS.

“Communication with members and customers is critical for nearly all businesses and organizations,” says Martin. “We provide a simple, cost effective solution that ensures no matter how large or how small a company or organization, you can always have effective communication with the people that matter.”
