USA Officers Complete First Receiver Decontamination Training
ATLANTA, Georgia (PRWEB) May 28, 2015 -- In April, five U.S. Security Associates (USA) security officers successfully completed the First Receiver Decontamination Training for those designated as patient decontamination staff during a disaster. The course was offered and conducted by the Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut, where the officers are assigned.
The officers who completed the on-site course and are designated with Certification for a First Responder to a HazMat Incident include Lieutenant Joseph Lopez, Sergeant Joseph Coley, Officer Willie Williams, Officer Eric Flores, and Officer Eduard Segarra.
The First Receiver Decontamination Training, based on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Best Practices Guidelines for Hospital-based First Receivers of Victims, introduced guidelines for analyzing the situation, assessing patient conditions and problems, taking the necessary steps to assure medical provider safety, attempting identification of the offending chemical substance, and initiating the decontamination process. This accelerated training, on a client-focused basis, extends the value that USA brings to its clients.
USA, a leading national security company with more than 46,000 employees, recognizes that a security company’s success depends on employing individuals who are empowered to be effective through comprehensive training. USA trains thousands of security officers annually through programs developed by USA Security Academy, the company’s in-house training institution. In addition to the pre-assignment and on-the-job training that every USA officer receives, the company encourages officers to take advantage of training/educational opportunities offered at client sites - - such as this example at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut.
The client’s security manager says, “USA officers are on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In the event of a HazMat incident, it is imperative that our security officers are trained as first responders. We are proud USA recognizes and responds to our needs and that our USA officers are now certified.”
