RDI Engineering Employees Raise Awareness for the Blind in Mud Run Fundraiser
Rancho Cucamonga, CA (PRWEB) May 31, 2015 -- Employees from RDI Engineering will participate in Blind Start of America’s seventh annual “Blind Mud Run” fundraiser on Saturday, June 20 at Irvine Lake. The purpose of the fundraiser is to promote awareness and help the blind and visually impaired lead lives of independence. All of the funds raised through the Blind Mud Run will assist the blind and visually impaired community with scholarships, educational training, and employment opportunities.
The Blind Mud Run is a 5,000 meter, untimed, mud run and obstacle course. The runners are usually placed in teams of five people. Each team will have several sighted runners, at least one blindfolded runner and one blind or visually impaired person. Blind Start of America encourages sighted participants to wear blindfolds during the mud run to promote cognizance of the blind and visually impaired.
“I’m excited to be blind folded during the mud run. The Blind Mud Run seems like a creative and exciting way to test the human body sensory system and promote awareness for the blind and visually impaired,” said Field Supervisor, Jason Barnard.
RDI Engineering implemented a community involvement action plan that focuses on giving back to the community. The company supports the importance of increasing awareness to help the blind and visually impaired lead independent lives and has motivated employees to join the Blind Mud Run to challenge themselves and support the cause.
“Being blind or visually impaired is often misunderstood or perceived as a disability. It’s important to enlighten others that the blind and visually impaired communities can do just as much as any other individual. The RDI team is motivated and ready to spread awareness and support the blind in leading lives of independence,” said CEO, Hector Mendoza Jr.
Blind Start of America is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 2006 and is based in Cerritos. To learn more about BlindStart or the Blind Mud Run visit http://www.blindstart.org.
