UCLA Health Partners With Exer - More Than Urgent Care
Los Angeles (PRWEB) June 02, 2015 -- UCLA Health and Exer have completed negotiations and executed a letter of intent to partner and expand urgent care services in Los Angeles County. The agreement is subject to approval by the University of California Board of Regents and the Exer Board of Directors. The planned transaction will allow UCLA Health to purchase a minority share of four existing Exer urgent care centers in Beverly Hills, Calabasas, Newbury Park and Northridge and creates opportunity to grow and develop new, low cost, high quality, advanced urgent services throughout the region.
Exer brings certified emergency medicine physicians into the community in high quality, urgent care settings to provide excellent care and access for patients at a lower cost than a visit to an emergency room.
"UCLA Health is investing in lower-cost urgent care settings to improve the overall cost of health delivery," notes Dr. John Mazziotta, vice chancellor, UCLA Health Sciences and dean, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. "Our goal is to improve access to care for the people of Los Angeles, and this work supports our efforts."
“Our partnership with UCLA Health gives us the unique opportunity to join with the preeminent healthcare system in the West,” stated Exer chair, Eve Kurtin. “Exer’s mission to provide our patients with the highest quality healthcare in easy to access retail locations aligns with UCLA Health’s commitment to improve the health of the greater Los Angeles community.”
UCLA Health has been a leader in patient care, medical research and teaching for more than 50 years. Today, its physicians provide an array of cutting-edge and research-based primary and specialty services in four hospitals on two campuses, and in numerous outpatient clinic locations. The system’s Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center has been ranked among the top hospitals in the United States for 20 consecutive years by U.S. News and World Report. UCLA Health treats approximately 1.5 million patients through its clinics and more than 80,000 patients through its hospitals each year.
Exer – More Than Urgent Care is an innovator in providing high-quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare services in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. Exer’s fully staffed medical teams include emergency medicine doctors, allowing Exer to offer the full scope of basic urgent care services while also giving patients access to advanced urgent care services that they might otherwise only be able to access in the hospital ER. Exer currently operates 4 centers that are open 12 hours per day, 7 days a week with plans to open additional centers throughout the Southern California region.
