Healthpointe clinics throughout Southern California are now treating mild traumatic brain injuries with the help of their licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Levon Margolin. Despite its name, mild traumatic brain injuries can lead to an extensive array of physical, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral effects and impairments; these effects can arise at any time after a traumatic ordeal involving the brain. Traumatic brain injuries can be caused by any bump or jolt to the head that impedes the normal function of the brain. The Anaheim, Corona, and Los Angeles clinics are now offering full-fledged treatment for all mild traumatic brain injuries.

Mild traumatic brain injuries, also known as minor head injuries or concussions, exhibit symptoms in several different ways depending on their severity and the age of the patient. Symptoms often include mild loss of consciousness, memory loss, disorientation, deficits in attention span, and any other change in mental status lasting less than 30 minutes.

Dr. Margolin, a graduate of Minnesota’s Walden University with a Masters in Psychology and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, has undergone extensive behavioral medicine training. Dr. Margolin’s training includes medical psychology, biofeedback, neurofeedback, quantitative electroencephalography, and cognitive behavioral therapy training. Dr. Margolin is also a board member of the National Alliance of Professional Psychology Providers, a national psychological organization. As part of an integrated treatment team at Healthpointe, Dr. Margolin is well prepared to evaluate and treat various cases of mild traumatic brain injury and their symptoms. A psychological evaluation is used to evaluate the amount of rehabilitation or treatment necessary to ensure a return to the patient’s pre-injury lifestyle. Psychological treatments include cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive rehabilitation therapy, relaxation approaches, biofeedback, and neurofeedback therapy to control abnormal brain wave activity.
