Diabetes Patient Advocacy Coalition (DPAC) Launches New Portal, Unifying Patient Voice to U.S. Lawmakers
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) June 01, 2015 -- The Diabetes Patient Advocacy Coalition (DPAC) announces its new advocacy portal at http://www.diabetespac.org to amplify the patient voice on diabetes issues to U.S. decision makers. DPAC, a newly founded non-partisan not-for-profit organization, focuses on securing the access, safety, and quality of care, medications, and devices needed for 29 million Americans living with diabetes.
With one out of every five U.S. healthcare dollars spent on treating patients with diabetes, policymakers must make fiscally responsible choices in diabetes policy while keeping patients healthy and safe. Through lobbying, constituent advocacy, and public awareness campaigns, DPAC’s unified diabetes voice will keep the challenges of daily life fresh in decision makers’ minds as they create and enforce policies.
“Diabetes advocacy is much like diabetes management; both are long-term processes with no quick fixes,” explains Bennet Dunlap, president of DPAC. “The Advocacy Portal at http://www.diabetespac.org provides anyone impacted by diabetes with an easy, simple, and effective way to hold decision makers accountable for their actions regarding our daily lives.” Those impacted by diabetes can register at DPAC's website and quickly learn about the latest issues, bills, and steps they can take to influence federal, state, and agency representatives.
Initial action campaigns focus on the Medicare CGM Act, Medicare and Medicaid competitive bidding process failings, patient protection from inaccurate blood glucose meters currently on the market, ensuring patients’ access to quality products; and an enforcement of infection protocol guidelines to prevent virus transmission through assisted blood glucose monitoring in hospitals and long-term care settings.
