Mission Viejo, CA (PRWEB) June 01, 2015 -- Smiling is known to improve your mood, be contagious to those around you, and is a worldwide symbol of happiness. Unfortunately, many people struggle to smile due to the physiological and psychological effects of poor dental health.
As the number of people who experience oral issues continues to rise, one local surgeon is determined to make a difference to an underserved member of his community. Dr. Junil Ahn, board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon at OC Oral Surgery, will take the lead on a “Second Chance Program” that will offer a free full-mouth restoration to a someone who may not otherwise be able to undergo the procedure. The recently launched program also intends to improve the recipient’s quality of life by incorporating members of the local community to help the individual’s specific needs, such as a life coach or gym membership.
Dr. Ahn explained his motivation for starting the local program: “‘Second Chance’ is not only a unique opportunity to help someone in need of dental services for health reasons, but to change their life by making a positive difference in the way they feel about themselves. I have seen many patients who suffer from low self-esteem because of their smile. I want to be able to change that for a deserving individual.”
Partnering with OC Oral Surgery in this program is Daniel Cohen, DDS, a local dentist who works with Dr. Ahn on many restorative cases involving dental implants. Dr. Ahn and Dr. Cohen will work hand-in-hand to develop an individualized treatment plan. The result? Natural looking teeth that will enable the recipient to eat the foods they love and smile with confidence. In addition to OC Oral Surgery’s partnership with Dr. Cohen, Okon Dental Laboratory will be volunteering their services and Nobel Biocare is donating the implants for the procedure.
“Dramatically restoring smiles with treatments like the All-On-Four® procedure is one of the most rewarding things about working in the dental field, and to be able to work with Dr. Ahn to offer this treatment to someone in need makes it even more worthwhile,” stated Dr. Cohen.
Interested applicants can visit the OC Oral Surgery website (http://ocoralsurgery.com/secondchance/) to learn more about the program and submit their online application. The application period runs from June 1, 2015 to July 31, 2105 and is open to residents of Orange County, CA and surrounding areas.
