The Veteran Asset and Ambassador Energy Host Solar Photovoltaic Training for Transitioning Military Service Members and Veterans
Murrieta, CA (PRWEB) May 31, 2015 -- The two-week 80-hour solar PV class is taught to transitioning military service members and veterans by IREC-accredited Ambassador Energy, in conjunction with Mission Career College, and qualifies for financial aid through government assistance:
• Workforce Investment Act (WIA) - benefits job seekers, laid-off workers, youth, incumbent workers, new entrants to the workforce, veterans, persons with disabilities, and employers.
• Post-9/11 G.I. Bill - offers higher education and training benefits to military veterans and service-members who served after September 10, 2001. In some cases, the benefits are extended to their families.
• Montgomery G.I. Bill (MGIB) - assists active duty military service-members and reservists in pursuing higher education degrees, certificates, and other education and training.
No prior solar experience is required of the students, who, upon graduation, should experience a high likelihood of passing the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) EL exam. The course, entitled Solar PV Design and Installation includes:
• Live instruction
• Lesson reviews
• Hands-on labs with industry-standard tools
• Building an operating solar PV system
• Multiple quizzes (over 300 practice questions)
• NABCEP Entry Level Exam administered on the last day of class
• Textbook and NABCEP Entry Level Exam Fee
The next course is offered at the Ambassador Energy training center in Murrieta, California, Monday, June 8th through Friday, June 19th, 2015. The class runs Monday through Friday 9:00AM until 5:00PM and is primarily taught by double NABCEP-certified Catherine Kelso, Director of Training for Ambassador Energy. Her pass rate for the course is almost double the national average.
“I enjoy teaching everyone about solar,” Kelso said, “but my favorite class is this one, as it is two weeks long, giving the students a good amount of time to digest the content. I also really like doing my part to get these veterans and transitioning service members jobs in solar.”
Interested students should contact The Veteran Asset (TVA), whose mission is placing veteran graduates into jobs, such as installer, project manager, designer/drafter, sales, administration, information technician, inspector and maintenance tech. TVA has placed 83% of graduates, who have completed the course.
