Grand Opening For AFC/Doctors Express Cherry Creek Primary Care Clinic
Denver, CO (PRWEB) June 01, 2015 -- On May 14, 2015, the AFC/Doctors Express Cherry Creek Urgent Care center hosted the Cherry Creek Chamber of Commerce for the grand opening of a new primary care clinic. Urgent care centers typically do not offer primary care services by appointment; the expanded clinic will allow AFC/Doctors Express Cherry Creek Urgent Care staff to schedule family care procedures, such as vaccinations and annual physicals.
From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. the center hosted presidents, CEOs, and managers from the Cherry Creek Chamber of Commerce. Clinic providers and staff were on hand to answer questions about small business healthcare financing.
“We wanted to be able to provide them with useful information on how to be able to reduce their medical costs by learning to choose the right plan for their company," said Shay Kerman, CFO/Owner of the center.
"This was more of an informative event rather than to promote clinic awareness -- even though it was our primary care clinic’s grand opening. We wanted to bring awareness to the community about how they can reduce their healthcare costs and have a better understanding of the healthcare industry.”
Kerman says the clinic will continue providing the same urgent care services; however, patients can now call ahead to book primary care services. The office has a digital X-ray machine and on-site laboratory, and the most common lab work performed at the clinic includes drug and alcohol screens, as well as testing for strep throat, flu, sexually transmitted infections, and tuberculosis.
For non-emergency illnesses and non-life threatening injuries, urgent care centers can usually offer patients shorter waiting times and lower costs for high quality services. According to the Urgent Care Association of America, about 60% of urgent centers have a wait time of 15 minutes or less and see more than 340 patients every week. Emergency room wait times can be as long as 58 minutes, a number that has been rising since 2003.
