“I wanted to get people together and get people really cooking again. The name? It’s simple, it’s a rock in a box, Roccbox!”

#Voom: Pitch to Rich 2015 is a nationwide competition run by Virgin Media Business to find the country’s most exciting and innovative businesses. The competition is the latest Virgin Media Business initiative to support small, growing UK businesses – the disproportionate drivers of the national economy. Virgin Media Business is offering an unprecedented £1m business accelerator prize fund to support three winning businesses – whether it’s just an idea, a promising start-up or a company with huge growth potential.
Roccbox is a compact, portable and affordable stone bake oven that brings wood and gas fired cooking to the masses at an affordable price point. There is nothing quite like Roccbox on the current market. Tom Gozney, an entrepreneur from Hampshire, England invented the unique stone oven that is soon set to launch globally after being in development for over three years. “I wanted to get people together and get people really cooking again. The name? It’s simple, it’s a rock in a box, Roccbox!” Roccbox is extremely versatile and accessible from home, a park, whilst camping, on a boat – whenever, wherever. The oven can roast meats, cook fish, bake bread, hot and cold smoke and delivers Neapolitan pizza in just 90 seconds. Roccbox is the solution to authentic wood and gas fired cooking without the exclusive price tag.
Equipped with some groundbreaking imagery, text and video, Tom entered Roccbox into the ‘New Things’ category of Virgin Media Business’ Pitch to Rich competition in April for the ultimate chance to win the 50k investment, as well as receiving valuable business mentoring from the Virgin Media Business team. Upon entering the competition, with thanks to the overwhelming response from the public vote, Roccbox immediately climbed to the top of the leaderboard and got through the first round. With over 2,500 pitches entered, Roccbox made it to the top 50 pitches in its category. Virgin Media Business later whittled down the shortlisted to just 32 and Roccbox is now through to the semi finals and is one of only eleven pitches still in the running within the ‘New Things’ category.
As of Tuesday 2nd June, the vote count will be reset to zero. Roccbox needs the public more than ever to get behind their pitch, taking them through to the live final in London on 26th June 2015 to pitch to Richard Branson himself. Richard’s judging panel consists of Peter Kelly, MD of Virgin Media Business; model and investor David Gandy and Jo Malone MBE, creator of globally renowned ‘Jo Malone London’ to name but a few.
Roccbox is set to revolutionise wood and gas fired cooking forever and this competition can help push British inventor, Tom Gozney’s innovative concept over the line. Every vote counts and Roccbox is urging the public to get behind them. What’s more is that Virgin Media Business are offering a £10k cash price to one lucky voter.
Voting closes Tuesday 16th June at 10am. To vote for Roccbox please visit: http://www.virginmediabusiness.co.uk/pitch-to-rich/new-things/roccbox/.
