Elizabeth Rogers, a Privacy and Data Security shareholder at international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will speak at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Cyber Legal Seminar taking place June 2, 2015, in New York City.

According to SIFMA’s website, this seminar is a full-day program that will provide attorneys and compliance professionals with insights and regulatory perspectives on cybersecurity law and how legal and compliance professionals should take an active role in law firms’ cyber defense plan. The seminar will also cover current cybersecurity threats, the framework and guidance to best defend against those threats, and the global nature of cyber issues and their cross-border legal implications. From 4-5 p.m. ET, Rogers will speak on the topic of “Vendor Management & Liability,” with particular focus on financial institutions and banks, both large and small.

Rogers focuses her practice on privacy and data security matters, including those related to privacy program development (governance and policy), privacy impact and security assessments, and developing risk-based privacy policies. She is also experienced in providing legal advice to executive leadership and board members about prioritizing legal risks arising from privacy and security vulnerabilities and creating a strategic compliance roadmap that achieves business objectives. Rogers also creates and establishes Written Security Incident Response Plans and associated trainings and hypothetical exercises to help businesses be prepared before a breach occurs. She has extensive experience in supporting major domestic and global technology transactions, including negotiating jurisdiction-specific controls for cross-border data flows and safeguarding intellectual property. Rogers additionally monitors and provides strategic advice arising from global, federal, and multistate privacy legislation.
