2 Sides Equal helps Francis D. Pastorius students creatively solve problems.

On June 4th, 2015, Francis D. Pastorius will hold an assembly where the students participating in Odyssey of the Mind, an international educational program that promotes critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, can present their solution to the problems they chose to tackle. At the assembly, the non-profit, 2 Sides Equal, and its founders 2nd Spark, will present Francis D. Pastorius Elementary with a grant for $5,000, making it possible for these students to participate in Odyssey of the Mind this year and continue creative problem-solving efforts into the next school year.

2 Sides Equal is committed to cultivating creative problem-solving skills in children from kindergarten through high school. With the funds that 2 Sides Equal raises, students have the opportunity to be exposed to and participate in creative problem-solving activities and learn skills that are necessary to compete in today’s world.

During the 2014-2015 school year, 2 Sides Equal chose Francis D. Pastorius - Mastery Charter School to fund initiatives that promote the development of creative problem-solving skills among its students. “We have been impressed with Pastorius Elementary. The faculty and administrators hold a high standard for their students and make sure the educational focus goes beyond learning just math, reading, and English,” said Julie Kenney, 2 Sides Equal spokesperson.

“These students wouldn’t have had this opportunity without 2 Sides Equal support. We have seen such a transformation of our students from the first day to the completion of the program. They stopped relying on us as leaders to give them guidance and now rely on each other and build upon each other’s thoughts and ideas.” said Danielle Isadore, Team Coach, K-2 Special Education Teacher, and Case Manager at Pastorius Elementary.
