200 images from school archives highlight growth of Hershey

Hershey: Then & Now

“I hope this book will help our students better understand their legacy and inspire others to learn more about the many stories of Hershey – the town, man, and school for children of families of lower income,” said McMahon.

Milton Hershey School® Director of School History James D. McMahon Jr. released, Hershey: Then and Now. The book includes 200 images highlighting the town of Hershey, Pa. since Milton Hershey, the chocolate magnate, founded it in 1903.

“I hope this book will help our students better understand their legacy and inspire others to learn more about the many stories of Hershey – the town, man, and school for children of families of lower income,” said McMahon.

Images include The Hershey Company, Milton Hershey School, High Point Mansion and a chapter on Hershey, Cuba with newly released photographs.

McMahon hand selected the images chosen primarily from the school’s archives to showcase the vision of Milton Hershey as well as the growth and evolution of the legacies he created.
