Helping Colleagues in Need #GetSwabbed Bone Marrow Registry Drive and Fundraiser at Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort
Bonita Springs, FL (PRWEB) June 26, 2015 -- With less than 2% of Americans registered on the bone marrow donors list, finding a match for Emma and 14,000 others each year is a monumental challenge. On Wednesday, July 1, 2015, the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort in Bonita Springs, in partnership with 70 Hyatt Hotels nationwide and DeleteBloodCancer.org invite the public to #GetSwabbed. Learn how a simple cheek swab can make a difference in helping leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma patients find the bone marrow donors they need to save lives. A life like third grader Emma Devitt.
Two ways to participate
Anyone in good general health between the ages of 18-55 can register to become a bone marrow donor. A simple cheek swab and registration card are all that’s required. Those who would prefer to make a financial donation in support or in memory of a loved one can do so in person at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort or online at donatebloodcancer.org. Each year 3,000 people on the waiting list for a bone marrow transplant die before a matching donor is found.

Fundraising
In addition to accepting public donations, Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort will donate $1 from each Seafood Treasures dinner purchased at Tarpon Bay Restaurant during the month of July. With the help of the public and the thousands of associates at 70 Hyatt Hotels nationwide, greater awareness of the Bone Marrow Registry can be raised as well as the funds needed to defray the expense of screening and registering each swab. At a cost of about $65 per swab, Delete Blood Cancer covers these expenses themselves to remove any obstacles to the registration process.
