OpenStack is the open source software for building clouds most widely used by enterprises and service providers. Enterprises use OpenStack to support rapid deployment of new products, reduce costs and improve internal systems. Service providers use OpenStack to give customers reliable, easily accessible cloud infrastructure resources, supporting technologies including platforms and containers. OpenStack powers clouds for many of the world’s largest brands, including AT&T, Bloomberg, Cisco Webex, Disney, Fidelity and Walmart. Nearly 500 companies and 23,000 individuals across more than 150 countries are supporters of the project.
OpenStack in Israel
The OpenStack community in Israel has been growing from year to year and boasts an annual attendance of more than 400 technical professionals. The OpenStack Israel event provides diverse tracks and a variety of hands-on workshops on everything OpenStack—from compute, networking, and storage to operations, orchestration and related open source projects. This year a special emphasis will be placed on network functions virtualization (NFV) and recent advancements made by the OpenStack community with respect to interoperability, federated identity and the community app catalog.
“The OpenStack community in Israel is vibrant and growing,” said Jonathan Bryce, executive director of the OpenStack Foundation. “The OpenStack Israel event is one of the longest-running community events for our project. But more importantly, it keeps getting better every year, with the support of great content from users and developers in the region.”
“We launched the first OpenStack Israel in 2012 as a vehicle whereby Israeli companies could bring their innovations to the global OpenStack community,” said Nati Shalom, founder and chief technology officer at GigaSpaces. “Since then, the depth of technical expertise and use cases that the event offers has expanded tremendously. As a result, this year’s OpenStack Israel event is the most impressive yet. Attendance is a ‘must’ for any Israeli organization looking to make informed decisions about IT transformation and the role OpenStack can play.”
