DV8 Cellars opens Tasting Room in Santa Barbara Funk Zone
Santa Barbara, CA (PRWEB) June 05, 2015 -- Owner Marc Simon started making wine in 2011 with the help of consulting winemaker Curt Schalchlin of Sans Liege Wines. Simon, a former musician/recording artist on Capital Records who worked in Entertainment ticket sales, became determined to make a change. He and his wife Dominique realized they had a passion for wine and decided to take the journey into wine making. “It took us a couple of years of extensive research and wine education before we formed DV8 Cellars and got the ball rolling”, he said.
He was introduced to Curt Schalchlin through Nicholas Miller of Bien Nacido Vineyards, Central Coast Wine Services and the Thornhill Company. “We met with Curt and knew immediately it was a perfect fit both stylistically and creatively.” Simon added, “We started buying fruit in 2011 and it grew from there. Having been long time fans of the Santa Barbara area and spending every weekend wine tasting here before it became so popular, we fell in love with the area and decided we wanted to open our tasting room here.”
DV8 Cellars case production is small, starting with just over 300 cases in 2011 growing to over 650 cases this year. He plans to increase his production with the opening of the tasting room. His tasting room will feature all Rhone varietal’s including Syrah, Grenache, a GSM blend, Viognier and Roussane as well as a Grenache Rose’, with most of the fruit being sourced from Santa Barbara County.
The wine tasting room, run by Marc Simon and his wife Dominique, will include live music, art showcases and special events from time to time. The tasting room, located at 28 Anacapa St., Suite C will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, Monday and Thursday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
