Smyrna, GA (PRWEB) June 08, 2015
Gigabit-speed broadband access is coming to Smyrna, GA, and that could make real estate in the area very attractive to telecommuters and home-based business owners, according to local Realtor Tracy Gaudiano.
Smyrna is among the cities slated to receive service from Google Fiber, potentially increasing the business appeal of the community.
“Smyrna has always been popular because of its close proximity to downtown Atlanta and the airport,” Gaudiano said. “The addition of Google Fiber helps cement Smyrna as a top choice for people who work from home and require fast Internet speeds.”
Bringing in the Line
According to a press release from the City of Smyrna, the city had been trying to get Google Fiber since 2010. The official announcement that the ultra-fast Internet service was coming to town was finally made in January of 2015.
The city hopes that access to the high-speed Internet lines will spur economic development. Smyrna Mayor A. Max Bacon said in the release that the city wants to “set up our residents for success.”

Google Fiber offers speeds of up to 1 gigabit. According to online speed testing sites, the average download speed in Smyrna at present, across all providers, is 33.84Mb/s, close to the nationwide average.
The Work-at-Home Demographic Is Growing
Smyrna is close enough to Atlanta to make commuting relatively easy, but the number of people who have given up driving to work at least a couple of days per week is growing.
Those telecommuters, as well as home-based business owners, will need a suitable property. Working from home requires the right type of housing to accommodate an office and other necessities.
Finding Ideal Properties for Working from Home
Gaudiano recommends that people who want to work or run businesses from their own home ensure that there is adequate space. For some, that might mean having an entire room to dedicate to an office. Others might be fine working out of a smaller space, particularly if they only telecommute occasionally or don’t require room to store files and other items.
Some residents may even want to consider using a backyard building, such as a small shed, as their office, which has become rather trendy lately.
Gaudiano is anticipating more traffic at her site, located at http://TheSmyrnaTeam.com, as Smyrna's increasing number of resources make it a popular option for people looking for property near Atlanta.
“With access to business resources like top-notch broadband and recreational destinations like the new Atlanta Braves stadium, Smyrna continues to prove why it has become a premier location to live in Metro Atlanta,” she said.
