As the list changes from year-to-year, one starts to see what drives trends in consumer demand and ultimately what leads to financial stability.
Portland, Maine (PRWEB) June 04, 2015
SeafoodSource.com, the international online news source for seafood industry professionals, released its annual Top 25 North American seafood suppliers list, a “who’s who” of the continent’s top seafood suppliers.
The list, which doubles as an industry pulse check and now in its 15th year, is the result of a poll by James Wright, senior editor of SeafoodSource.com. This year, SeafoodSource.com ranked 25 companies based on 2014 sales, a total of USD13 billion-plus in sales. The list is considered an informative tool for seafood professionals desiring to know the major industry players in North America.
Ranked companies include vertically integrated suppliers, wholesalers and distributors across the United States and Canada. While some are publicly traded companies, the majority are family owned or privately held, and their participation is voluntary. According to Wright, all of the companies got to where they are by delivering high-quality products to their foodservice and retail customers.
“Everyone enjoys a good list, this one just happens to effectively take the temperature of the seafood industry,” said Wright. “As the list changes from year-to-year, you start to see what drives trends in consumer demand and ultimately what leads to financial stability.”
A sample of companies who made the list this year include: National Fish & Seafood; Harbor Seafood; Eastern Fish Company; Cooke Aquaculture; and High Liner Foods. The list also reveals each company’s ranking and sales in millions of U.S. dollars.
