Paul Nicolai, Esq. has been re-elected to the Board of Directors of the Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts (EDC) for a new three-year term. He was first elected to the Board of Directors in 2004. He chairs the Infrastructure Committee and serves as a founding member of the Entrepreneurship Committee along with its chair Steve Davis.
Attorney Nicolai's most recent activity chairing the Infrastructure Committee was to manage a review and policy recommendation for the EDC on the natural gas supply shortage issues in Western Massachusetts and their effect on electricity pricing. He also represents the Western Massachusetts business community on the long-term study being done for the replacement of Interstate 91. He represented the Western Massachusetts business community and the planning for and implementation of the Knowledge Corridor Rail Project, a $130,000,000 rehabilitation of the Connecticut River Line that now carries the Amtrak Montrealer.
Established in 1996, the EDC brings together public and private leadership in three counties to support the creation of quality jobs and enhanced public and private investment. Affiliated partners of the EDC are the Affiliated Chambers of Commerce, the Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau, Northampton Business Improvement District, Westfield Business Improvement District, Springfield Business Improvement District, Westmass Area Development Corporation and the Westover Metropolitan Airport.
