Having any sort of animal in your life is an irreplaceable piece of therapy. It’s been proven that just by touching an animal, cat or dog, your blood pressure goes down—these are facts.

Mediaplanet announces distribution of its third cross-platform edition of “Pet Wellness,” inspiring readers to take action and adopt pets from shelters instead of mills while also amplifying the conversation around what actions pet owners can take to ensure their own pet is happy, healthy and safe at home.

The print component of “Pet Wellness” was distributed within the weekend’s edition of LA Times, with a circulation of approximately 455,000 copies and an estimated readership of 1.4 million. The digital component is distributed nationally, through a vast social media strategy and across a network of top news sites and partner outlets. Animal Planet’s “Pit Bulls and Parolees” star Tia Torres graces the cover of the print publication. In an exclusive interview, she encourages readers to adopt rescues from shelters, speaks to popular misconceptions about pit bull and breed discrimination, and underlines the importance of research before becoming a new pet owner in order to realize the most positive relationship possible.

Also inside, Jackson Galaxy of “My Cat from Hell” weighs in on the best ways for owners to care for their feline friends. Promoting responsible pet ownership, he says, “Having any sort of animal in your life is an irreplaceable piece of therapy. It’s been proved that just by touching an animal, cat or dog, your blood pressure goes down—these are facts.”

This campaign was made possible with the support of Best Friends Animal Society, ASPCA, IDEXX Laboratories, Petco, Purina ONE, Healthy Pet, K9 Grass by ForeverLawn, Clean Control Corporation, The International Cat Association, LA Animal Services, AKC, IQ Air, Hallmark Channel, Voyce, Humane Society of the US, The Dodo and many more.
