Imagination Playground, LLC, http://www.imaginationplayground.com, creators of the breakthrough play space concept that encourages child-directed, unstructured free play, announced today an event to be held at their flagship Imagination Playground Park, located at Burling Slip in New York City. The event is in support of their national contest, Build-A-Thon, which is open to children 2-10 years of age. The event will take place on Friday, June 19th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

This nation-wide contest is awarding over 500 prizes including Imagination Playground Big Blue Blocks sets and a trip to New York City. During the event, children can create their own unique “builds” with Imagination Playground Big Blue Blocks, photograph them, and then submit the photographs for prizes.

Children may enter as many times as they like, so building, photographing, and building again will be in store at the event. This family-friendly summer event is free and open to anyone that would like to participate.

For those unable to attend the event, but would like to enter the Build-A-Thon promotion, there are two ways to play. Children between ages 2 and 10 years of age can submit photos of as many physical builds or app screen designs as they like to buildathon(at)imaginationplayground(dot)com. The Build-A-Thon allows building on Imagination Playground’s newly introduced 3D Builder app (available for free download on the iTunes App Store at http://bit.ly/3D-APP.) Children can forward on screen shots of their designs to enter.

Or entrants can physically build with their Imagination Playground Big Blue Blocks at any of their Partners in Play (local family centers, children’s museums, discovery centers, camps, parks and science centers). A photograph of the creation can be forwarded on to enter.

“We have hundreds of events scheduled around the country this summer and thought we needed to make sure the children of New York City got in on all the fun! The Imagination Playground Park at Burling Slip is a perfect location for this amazing activity for the entire family, so adding prizes for the creative building efforts there just makes sense,” shared Dave Krishock, President, Imagination Playground.

Krishock went on to say, “The Build-A-Thon promotion is one of the most exciting mission-driven programs we have ever initiated. Rewarding children with BIG prizes while having them stretch their imaginative minds is just a win-win!”
