BLR®—Business & Legal Resources—announces the acquisition of the Patient Safety and Quality Healthcare (PSQH) brand along with related assets from Lionheart Publishing, adding to BLR’s information resources in the healthcare space.

Launched in 2004, Patient Safety and Quality Healthcare (PSQH) is written for and by those directly involved in improving patient safety and the quality of healthcare, including clinicians, patient safety officers, risk managers, business leaders, policy makers, educators, and commercial vendors. Key content areas include technology, public policy, and consumer issues. PSQH content is delivered to subscribers via a bi-monthly magazine (print and digital/mobile versions), a monthly e-newsletter and a high traffic web site.

“Patient Safety and Quality Healthcare is a perfect fit for our strategic expansion of information services in the health care compliance and management arena,” says Dan Oswald, Chief Executive Officer of BLR. “It’s a trusted solutions source for safety professionals concerned with everything from incident reporting to barcoding, infection reduction to medication safety, patient engagement to fall prevention. It joins our strong portfolio of healthcare information brands including HC Pro and HealthLeaders Media.”

Recognition of the important role of PSQH is reflected in the support from organizations such as the American Society of Professionals in Patient Safety, the American Society for Quality, the Institute for Safe Medication Practices, and the National Patient Safety Foundation.

“BLR has the marketing resources to expand the reach of PSQH,” says John Llewellyn, president of Lionheart. “It’s a great strategic fit and the natural next step for the publication.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. John McGovern, Senior Associate for W.B. Grimes & Company, led the transaction team on behalf of Lionheart Publishing. BLR was advised by Bruce Guzowski, President of Guzowski Advisory, LLC.
