The thought of suicide slipped out of my mind like water off a duck’s back. It was as if I had experienced a moment of temporary insanity, because my whole being changed instantly.

MIAMI - “Pick up the Bible!”

These are the exact words author Oliver Jobson heard when he was contemplating suicide one night. This mysterious authoritative voice compelled Jobson to open the Bible and read The Lord’s Prayer. This event started his new journey.

Jobson’s new memoir “Saved from Suicide by The Lord’s Prayer” encompasses his journey with religion and spirituality, starting with his adolescent years as an acolyte in the Roman Catholic Church, and through his military career. He presents a biographical testimonial surrounding his relationship with a source that manifests in his life at critical times and saves him from the possibility of death.

“This telepathic voice was a gentle, loving, soft but firm voice that, in retrospect, sounded more like a command.” Jobson said. “And so I did. I know I have been very blessed, and I have not forgotten it for a moment.”

Jobson has researched religion and spirituality his whole life. He has travelled extensively, attended high school in Jamaica, moved to England, and visited Peru, France, the Vatican, Indonesia, Israel, Ghana, India and more, where he learned from priests, rabbis and yogis, spending years in prayer and meditation.

“I had been contemplating doing the most atrocious thing any human being could do, besides killing another,” Jobson said. “The thought of suicide slipped out of my mind like water off a duck’s back. It was as if I had experienced a moment of temporary insanity, because my whole being changed instantly. “

In this memoir, Jobson describes his life’s journey, telling how his educational background and military career played a pivotal role in developing the leadership skills that allowed him to lead diverse organizations, develop an uncanny ability to succeed, and to fail with a remarkable sense of strength.
