The Gluten-Free Certification Program (GFCP)  in partnership with the Canadian Celiac Association is proud to announce that Organic Works Bakery has met all GFCP assurance requirements to use the GFCP trademark on their product line consisting of over 40 varieties of breads, squares, cookies, muffins and desserts. All Organic Works products are baked fresh daily, with care, using only the finest organic ingredients available in their allergen-free bakery and shipped across Ontario. “Our unique style of baking began with YOU our customers requesting the need for tasty organic, gluten and nut free, vegan products” says Peter Cuddy, President of Organic Works Bakery. “With much determination and testing we finally succeeded in making fresh, delicious, gluten-free, nut free, vegan breads that you’d be happy to make a sandwich with. Paul Valder, President of the Allergen Control Group Inc. (ACG), the corporation that manages the GFCP states that “products displaying a GFCP trademark have been manufactured in a facility which successfully undergoes a robust, non-biased, annual third party audit. Orion Assessment Services of Canada have completed Organic Works facility audit and verified their ability to routinely meet the stringent GFCP standard requirements for managing the production of gluten-free products”.

The Gluten-Free Certification Program is a voluntary program designed for manufacturers and brand owners committed to producing safe, reliable, gluten-free products. The program combines stringent, risk based gluten-free requirements with globally recognized food safety management systems which exceed government requirements in both Canada and the United States. Consumers can now shop with confidence across North American and know that the products they are purchasing meet the industry’s strictest gluten-free requirements when they see the GFCP trademark.

An increasing number of consumers suffer from celiac disease or non-celiac gluten sensitivity. “There is no cure for people suffering from these ailments and the only remedy is to adhere to a strict gluten-free diet for life” says Sue Newell, Operations Manager of the Canadian Celiac Association (CCA). “In 2009 the CCA commissioned the development of The Gluten-Free Certification Program to both increase ease of access to gluten-free products and also help consumers make clear and informed safe, gluten-free product choices, like those offered by Organic Works Bakery”.
