Soliant Names 2015 Top 20 Most Beautiful Hospitals in the U.S.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 15, 2015 -- Soliant Health, a leading specialty healthcare staffing provider and part of Adecco Group, is proud to name Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Ga. as Soliant’s Most Beautiful Hospital in the U.S. for 2015.
For the seventh year in a row, Soliant Health turned to hospital staff, patients, and fellow supporters to determine the Top 20 hospitals worthy of the “Most Beautiful Hospital in the U.S.” distinction. More than 70 nominations later, Soliant opened up the contest to a month-long voting period to determine its winners.
This year, Soliant received almost 400,000 votes, making 2015 the most successful year in its contest history thus far in terms of vote counts. This year’s contest broke records in two ways: the most votes ever received in total and the most votes ever received by a single hospital. In the end, Phoebe Sumter Medical Center took home the title with an astonishing 95,426 votes, breaking the record of every hospital that has ever been in the running for Soliant’s Most Beautiful Hospitals in the U.S. contest.
“Phoebe Sumter Medical Center is honored to be selected by Soliant for this prestigious award and national recognition,” said Brandi Lunneborg, CEO of Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. “Phoebe Sumter is a beautiful facility with the best a modern hospital has to offer, delivering a patient-centered, healing atmosphere. The physical beauty of the hospital is enhanced daily by the pride, support and love of our staff and our community who are dedicated to its success. We are so excited to share this wonderful award with them and thank them for their continued faith in us to provide them with the best healthcare in southwest Georgia.”
Phoebe Sumter Medical Center’s LEED-certified state-of-the-art facility features an eco-friendly rooftop garden, elegant use of natural lighting, all-private patient rooms, and HCAHPS scores that exceed national standards on quietness and cleanliness. Previously, Sumter Regional Hospital underwent a $21.5-million expansion and renovation in order to better serve the needs of its growing community.
In 2007, a F3 tornado ravaged the town of Americus, destroying Sumter Regional Hospital in its path. The massive property damage forced the hospital to function out of temporary facilities and tents donated by FEMA and GEMA before a new hospital, what is now known as Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, was completed in 2011.
“Following a devastating tornado in early 2007, Phoebe was humbled by the confidence that Sumter County healthcare leaders placed in us by allowing us to rebuild their destroyed hospital,” said Joel Wernick, Phoebe Putney Health System President and CEO. “Our goal was to build a hospital for the future, a hospital of hope for all in need and a hospital designed to foster great community pride. This award validates the work we have done and propels us forward, encouraged to overcome the health environment challenges ahead.”
Supporters of Phoebe Sumter Medical Center showed unparalleled support during the voting period, resulting in almost 100,000 votes at closing. One such supporter was Americus’ own mayor, Barry Blount, who declared Friday, May 22 as “Vote for Phoebe Sumter Day” in hopes of intensifying voting efforts during the contest.
“The honor was ours when it came to recognizing Phoebe Sumter Medical Center as Soliant’s Most Beautiful Hospital in the U.S.,” said David Alexander, president of Soliant Health. “With a foundation as strong as it is beautiful, Phoebe Sumter demonstrated just how much a group of motivated people with a common goal can rebuild a hospital from the ground up, a state-of-the-art one at that, and earn a national distinction despite a catastrophic event that almost ended its legacy.”
