Take a Staycation in Virtual Reality. The Campfire Union launches Yana Virtual Relaxation.
Winnipeg, MB (PRWEB) June 17, 2015 -- Today, The Campfire Union are announcing the release of the Yana Virtual Relaxation app for the Samsung Gear VR. Yana transports users to their own private beach where they can watch a virtual sunset and relax, any time they need.
The Samsung Gear VR is the first commercial virtual reality platform produced in partnership with Facebook's Oculus, which is a headset that uses a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or Galaxy S6 cell phone to power it. Yana is only the 63rd app on the app store.
"Think of it like the first wave of iPhone apps" says Rachael Hosein, Chief Creative Officer and Cofounder of The Campfire Union. "Now there are more than 1 million, but it all started somewhere. We're trying to lead the way, and as a proudly Canadian company, we're excited to be among the first Canadian companies focusing on VR."
The reactions from those who've used Yana have been really positive. "The moon peeked up and I knew it was time for me to leave, but I didn't really want to—kind of like a real vacation." wrote Mike Wehner in the Daily Dot. Another beta user from the Oculus Connect conference, which The Campfire Union was selected to be a part of last September, said that in the middle of a busy conference he felt so relaxed he began reflecting on his career path. Others have felt relaxed enough to fall asleep, and use Yana to help catch a quick nap.
"Yana is the perfect escape during a stressful day at the office, or for anyone who wants a getaway to clear their mind." explains Lesley Klassen, Chief Innovation Officer and Cofounder of The Campfire Union. "You put on the headset and you're transported to your own private beach where you get to watch the sun set and the stars come out, a meteor shower, all the way through to sunrise."
The Samsung Gear VR is sold in Best Buys across America, and is available for preorder in Canada now too. Expect a big marketing push this holiday season, and expect The Campfire Union to continue leading the way as Canadian virtual reality developers.
