Potomac Piranhas’ “Piranha Tank™ Pitch Event,” modeled on ABC's "Shark Tank" program, will be held Thurs. and Fri., June 30 and 31 at the US Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria. It focuses on financing innovations and business models that accelerate improving the Washington region. Any business that can demonstrate a triple bottom line benefit to “People, Planet and Profit” will be considered.

The program culminates in the “Pitch,” a competition in which entrepreneurs and business people will pitch their green and sustainable entrepreneurial ideas to a diverse panel of six well-known business experts (Piranha investors) in the Washington, DC Metro area who are ready to finance ideas that show real promise for new innovation, with a return on investment. The local Piranha investors include:

Nicholas Jordan, Owner and President, Capitol Bridge Services
Eddie Graves, CEO, Chrome Consulting
Rob Kaufman, President, PMA Properties
David Goodenow, CEO, Dragonfly Landing
Glen Hellman, Chief Revenue Ofc., 10 Pearls &Washington's own "Mr. Cranky"

In addition to the Piranha Tank, a Thursday evening reception will provide opportunities to meet the Piranhas and network with others interested in innovation in the Washington DC metropolitan community.

"We saw a real opportunity to create a conversation between the environmental and business communities,” said Gore Bolton, creator of the Piranha Tank, born in Washington, DC and an entrepreneur himself. “All of us are interested in businesses that meet the triple bottom line. We thought, why not find a way to bring these two usually-competing communities together in a fun way that delivers real results? That's when we hit on the 'Piranha Tank' idea.”

Mr. Bolton is an experienced entrepreneur with a background of investing in startups and small to medium sized companies.

And Christy Hartmann, the Potomac Piranhas™ chief of operations, said, "We have a full schedule of interesting businesses ready to swim with the Piranhas for investment . It is going to be a great event."

Potomac Piranhas™, founded in 2014, seeks to bring together the business and environmental communities, instead of pitting them against one another, delivering real, measurable results that respect the bottom line.
