Mashable, the leading media company for the digital generation, announced today that it has hired Hillary Busis as its Deputy Entertainment Editor.
In this role, Busis will be responsible for managing, editing and contributing to Mashable’s expanding entertainment channel. She will work closely with Entertainment Editor Josh Dickey and the rest of the Entertainment editorial team, as well as the Watercooler and News teams, as they break news, cover daily events in real-time and develop long-form immersive features.
Based in Mashable’s New York City headquarters, Busis will help bolster Mashable’s continuous, coast-to-coast entertainment coverage. With a focus on the role digital has played in disrupting the industry, Mashable’s entertainment channel covers everything from feature films and television, to the evolution of the music industry and the popularity of streaming-first content.
“Hillary has a deep understanding and appreciation of both pop culture and the social web,” said Jim Roberts, Chief Content Officer and Executive Editor. “Her tone and humor are a natural fit for Mashable’s global social audience, and her voice will be a critical addition to our growing editorial team.”
Busis joins Mashable from Entertainment Weekly, where she has served as Digital News Editor, Staff Editor and Correspondent. During this time, she oversaw news and feature coverage, managed EW’s digital reporting for major events such as the Golden Globes and Oscars, and has written everything from TV recaps to opinion articles. Prior to this, as a freelancer, she contributed to InterviewMagazine.com, Slate, BKLYNR, Mr. Porter, and The Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy Blog.
Busis is a graduate of Columbia, where she studied English and history. She joins Mashable at the end of June and can be found on Twitter at @hillibusterr.
