Society of Decorative Painters Celebrates Art at 43rd Annual Conference & Expo
Wichita, KS (PRWEB) June 18, 2015 -- The Society of Decorative Painters (SDP) 43rd Annual Conference & Expo drew over 400 individuals from nine countries, including the United States, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Japan, Mexico and Paraguay. The event, which is one of the largest annual decorative painting conferences and expos, was held May 11-16, 2015 at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, IL.
“I enjoyed the classes and exhibits,” said Veronica Radowicz, who attended the event. “I reconnected with some friends from the Illinois Prairie Painters (an affiliated SDP chapter) and plan to rejoin (the Society as a member) now that I have more time to paint.”
The Expo featured 37 companies with products ranging from painting supplies to painting surfaces. Exhibitors were thrilled to participate in the event and recognized the positive return on their investment to attend.
“Stampendous saw a huge benefit being at the SDP show and educating decorative painters on the use of our stamps, stencils and accessories as new mediums for their artwork,” said Pegi Smith, Director of Sales. “Education, in person, always encourages sales. Stampendous will definitely attend the show again next year.”
Cindy Harrison of Cindy’s Decorative Painting also plans to exhibit again. Harrison, a first time SDP exhibitor, shared, "It was so exciting. I have many new friends and students. My Facebook page has grown exponentially and my online sales have increased. I am looking forward to having a booth in 2016.”
In addition, SDP partnered with CRE8TIME, a consumer awareness campaign designed to encourage creativity, to host SDP’s first ever Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 16. The event offered an inventive space for adults and children to use art as a vehicle for bonding, creative expression and pure fun. Over 30 parents and children participated in crafting activities donated by Darice, Plaid Crafts, Twisteewirez and Wikki Stix. Both SDP members and Family Fun Day attendees participated in “make it take it” classes that involved acrylics, fabric, paint and Etchall Etching Crème.
“The dedicated staff, teachers, vendors, committee members and volunteers outdid themselves,” said Wendy Watson, President, SDP Board of Directors. “I am excited to be a part of the next chapter of SDP’s story.”
SDP members gathered at the organization’s Annual Meeting held during the Conference to elect Watson and 10 other industry professionals to the Society’s 2015-2016 Board of Directors. The new Board’s term began June 1, 2015.
