Value-Based Golf Getaways to Oneida County Include Two of the Ten Best Courses in New York
Utica, New York (PRWEB) June 23, 2015 -- Oneida County Tourism invites golfers to experience two of Golfweek Magazine’s Top Ten Courses in New York State as part of the 2015 Golf Getaway Experience. Oneida County is home to 29 courses within 29 minutes of drive time, including Atunyote and Kaluhyat at Turning Stone Resort Casino, which have been named to the Top Ten Courses in New York State by Golfweek Magazine and among America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses for the third consecutive year by Golf Digest. Just a four hour drive from New York City, Philadelphia, Toronto or Boston, Oneida County offers golfers a plethora of options for a fun-filled, value-driven golf getaway experience, with a host of food and entertainment choices for off-course enjoyment.
Oneida County’s courses include PGA-level, nationally-recognized courses as well as courses geared toward relaxed play and fun. Greens fees and a cart for 18 holes begin at an incredibly low cost of $20. Other courses fall in the $20-$50 range with the exception of Turning Stone Resort Casino’s premier courses. This allows golfers to build a customized golf experience to meet their level of play, while reserving resources for entertainment and dining. Tee times are easy to schedule and many courses have same day access.
Of the 29 courses in 29 minutes, notables include Atunyote, Kaluhyat and Shenendoah at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, which were named among Golfweek’s Best Casino Courses. In the heart of Utica is another notable, Valley View Golf Club, which was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. The course is part of the Utica Parks and Parkway Historic District, which was designed by famous landscape architect and co-designer of New York’s Central Park, Frederick Law Olmsted.
In addition, a range of restaurants, casinos and bars, many of which serve “Utica Cuisine,” round out the experience with unique regional food and friendly, welcoming service with an affordable price tag. Golfers can even begin their getaway on a Thursday and partake in Utica’s biggest weekly summertime party, Saranac Thursday Concert Series at the F. X. Matt Brewery.
“If golf is your game, Oneida County should be your getaway destination,” Kelly Blazosky, president of Oneida County Tourism said. “Our central New York location offers lodging, dining, entertainment and great golf at rates that are pleasantly surprising to visitors from major metropolitan areas. Also, Oneida County is easily accessible by AMTRAK or a 4-hour drive from several major cities in the Northeast. We offer the full package--including golf, casinos, unique events and great food and accommodations for the value conscious golfer.”
