Inspired by Cyndi Lauper’s 1983 hit, GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN, Elle Yerushalmi and Evan “Kidd” Bogart wrote a song about shirking responsibilities and having a good time. With lyrics like, “I don’t wanna eat broccoli, just chocolate”, the duo created an atmosphere of rebellious playfulness. Elle and Evan wrote the song in under two hours and recorded it in one afternoon. “Sometimes the biggest hits flow just like this,” Bogart said, “When it’s right, it’s right.”
6-Yr. old, former child star, Luca Bella, was called in to co-direct the video. Shot on location in Los Angeles by Corito Entertainment, it features Elle, her mom Lori Dennis (Celebrity Interior Designer, Real Designing Women HGTV), Roy Yerushalmi and her 5 and 6-Yr old pals. Whether defying her parents, dancing on her homework, staying up all night or toasting with ice cream cones, these kids know how to have fun and won’t let anyone stop them.
“I wanted to make a song because I love singing,” says Elle. “I thought everyone would like it because homework sucks and everyone wants to have fun.”
Elle’s next single debuts fall 2015.
