I believe ZONARE is generating the pathway to a new diagnostic standard of choice
Mountain View, CA (PRWEB) June 25, 2015
ZONARE, a leading developer of next generation ultrasound technology, announced it recently named Timothy Proulx vice president of engineering. Proulx has extensive medical imaging and device experience. He will oversee both the software and hardware engineering teams for the company.
“We are pleased to have Tim join ZONARE,” said Glen McLaughlin, Ph.D., founder and president of ZONARE. “With more than 25 years of experience, Tim will lead our efforts to expand our next generation ZONE Sonography™ Technology (ZST) as we seek to provide clinicians with state-of-the-art ultrasound imaging capabilities. We look forward to the company’s ongoing technology evolution under his guidance.”
ZST is an innovative approach to echo data acquisition and image formation. Using a small number of large “zones,” ZST acquires ultrasound data significantly faster than conventional ultrasound and extracts more information on each transmit receive cycle. Since the speed of sound traveling through tissue is a physical constant, ZST has a significantly faster acoustic acquisition time enabling superior imaging quality. ZST is a Living Technology, which delivers ultrasound imaging excellence based on a dynamic and open architecture that allows ongoing platform evolvement.
“I believe ZONARE is generating the pathway to a new diagnostic standard of choice,” said Proulx. “ZST enables exceptional image quality with exquisite grey scale and color Doppler imaging, along with enhanced penetration plus new capabilities. Most importantly, I think we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg as we continue to evolve this technology, providing significant tools in assisting clinicians with greater diagnostic confidence.”
Prior to joining ZONARE, Proulx held a similar position at Sonitus Medical Systems and EarLens Corporation. He has had numerous senior level engineering responsibilities at Cabochon Aesthetics, BC Tech and Acuson/Siemens Medical. Proulx holds a B.S. in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering from Duke University and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He also has five patents issued within the medical imaging and device field.
ZONARE is solely dedicated to ultrasound excellence through its innovative, award-winning next generation technology which provides the platform for the company’s Living Technology designed to meet its customers evolving imaging needs. The patented design and Zone Sonography ™ Technology (ZST) architecture of the Z.One PRO and ZS3 platforms deliver high-end image quality and clinical versatility. ZONARE is now an independently run, wholly owned subsidiary of Mindray Medical International. For more information, visit http://www.zonare.com.
