Moen Sponsors Habitat For Humanity Build In Northeast Ohio
North Olmsted, Ohio (PRWEB) June 29, 2015 -- Moen is pleased to announce that the company is partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Medina County to provide a new home for one Northeast Ohio family. This summer, a home will be built in Brunswick, Ohio, which is nearby to Moen’s global headquarters. More than 100 Moen associates will volunteer approximately 800 man hours to aid in the build with Habitat for Humanity representatives.
Construction began in June, and the local family of five will move into the finished home by the end of the year. Moen serves as the business sponsor for this project, providing a monetary donation of $60,000 as well as volunteer labor and complimentary products for the kitchen and bathrooms.
“Giving back to the local community is of great importance to Moen, and we’re excited to enter our fourteenth year of partnership with Habitat for Humanity,” said Tim McDonough, Vice President, Global Brand Marketing, Moen. “At the heart of the Moen brand is the core belief to always do what’s right and work together. Not only are we donating products, but our employees are coming together to help build a home for a very deserving family, right here in our backyard.”
Among the fixtures that will be installed include Moen kitchen and bathroom faucets, showerheads and accessories, as well as bath safety items.
As a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry that builds with people in need regardless of race or religion, Habitat for Humanity welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds. With more than 1,500 local affiliates in the United States and more than 70 national organizations around the world, Habitat for Humanity has helped to build or repair more than 800,000 houses and serve more than four million people worldwide.
“It’s truly inspiring to see a local business so dedicated to helping the community by donating their time, resources and products to a family who truly deserves it,” said Cathy Brown, Medina County Habitat for Humanity. “It’s because of businesses like Moen that we’re able to provide quality housing to families and individuals across the country.”
While Habitat looks to help families in need, it also prepares applicants to own and maintain a home. When selecting homeowners, Habitat looks for families that have a desire for better housing, are willing to partner with the organization and have an ability to make payments on the home once they move in to it. Homeowners that are selected must agree to put in at least 400 “sweat equity” or volunteer hours as a down payment on the home and have a family income less than 80 percent of the area median income.
