FireflySci Releases Spectrophotometer Calibration Standards for NIR Wavelength Accuracy Verification

As a newly formed spin-off from the now defunct Precision Cells, FireflySci has already made its mark, innovating a unique line of spectrophotometer calibration standards. On June 22nd 2015, FireflySci released their WAV-8 NIR filter, which is the first solid-state reference standard for checking wavelength accuracy in the range of 700-3000nm.

This cutting edge standard making is a madatory tool for use in high-end Agilent, Shimadzu and Perkin Elmer machines. Featuring 12 distinct peaks, the WAV-8 is the world’s first cuvette-shaped, solid-state filter that lets metrologists and quality control personnel know if a machine is in spec deep into the NIR range. Previous spectrophotometer calibration standards, such as those made from didymium glass were only able to operate up to 875nm. Used in conjunction with FireflySci’s already released FNIR-series photometric accuracy standards, the user can perform full instrument validation throughout the NIR spectrum.

The WAV-8 standards sets itself apart from the crowd in that it features, FireflySci’s proprietary nanodeposition technology. This technology locks in the material properties and keeps all solid-state spectrophotometer calibration standards in spec. Having stopped material aging, a process which normally necessitates having to recalibrate standards every 2 years, FireflySci calibration standards stay in spec permanently apart from contamination and user error.
