Excelera’s sharing of tools, data, benchmarking and best practices improves patient outcomes and increases value for the populations we serve.
Minneapolis, MINN (PRWEB) July 06, 2015
ExceleraRx Corp. announced that Banner Health, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health care systems, has become an Excelera stockholder. Banner first joined the Excelera network as a health system member in June 2014. With today’s announcement, Banner also becomes an investor in the network.
The Excelera network, owned by a subset of its members, consists of point-of-care based specialty pharmacies owned by health systems and academic medical centers. Excelera provides members tools, best practices and sophisticated data reporting and benchmarking support to grow and enhance their specialty pharmacy capability and to gain access to limited-distribution drugs and restrictive payer agreements.
Specialty pharmaceuticals are expensive drugs that may require special handing and administration and are often used to treat the most ill and clinically complex patients. The Excelera Specialty Pharmacy Network allows its members to provide continuity of care for their patients with complex conditions who require specialty drugs. The network also serves as a national platform for collaboration to optimize outpatient specialty drug therapy value for population health.
“Banner Health exists to make a difference in peoples’ lives through excellent patient care and our partnership with Excelera assists us in providing important continuity of care for our specialty pharmacy patients,” said Pamela Nenaber, Chief Executive Officer, Pharmacy Services, Banner Health. “Excelera’s sharing of tools, data, benchmarking and best practices improves patient outcomes and increases value for the populations we serve.”
“We are very excited that Banner Health chose to invest in the Excelera network,” said Jim Fox, Chief Executive Officer of the Excelera network. “Banner Health is a leading and growing system and its long-term commitment to Excelera adds significant value to the overall network.”
In addition to Banner, the Excelera network includes the following members: Henry Ford Health System, Catholic Health Initiatives, Fairview Health Services (which includes the University of Minnesota Medical Center), Intermountain Healthcare, Avera Health, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Regional Health.
