Projection mapping works on many different levels - and this is perfect evidence that mapping can succeed even with a smaller organization.

Chicago-based 3D projection media company Chicago Projection Mapping (CPM) announced today the release of documentation from their recent onstage collaboration with OneGoal, a Chicago-based non-profit. The final display included over sixty physical surfaces mapped onto, complete with over a half-hour of custom designed content, reflective of the on-stage presentation and speakers. Video documentation is available at this YouTube link, and groups interested in creating their own mapping experience are encouraged to email Info(at)ChicagoProjectionMapping(dot)com.

When approached by OneGoal, CPM faced a unique challenge - designing a value-oriented solution that would not only maximize their client’s investment in mapping, but also build audience engagement and assist with fundraising efforts. Over the span of several weeks, multiple design solutions were proposed and considered, until the final design was locked in and technical programming began.

The final display served as a reflection of both the evening’s programming and visual splendor. A 60-piece background environment was developed, dramatically showcasing custom content over 450 individual mapping points. Alternating between captivating motion photography, custom-made animations, growing energy during auction bidding, and stunning time-lapses of the Chicago skyline, the stage shifted through over two dozen looks throughout the night, in perfect sync with event lighting, slides, and audio. Final fundraising totals for the night exceeded $1.4 million.

“Projection mapping works on many different levels - and this is perfect evidence that mapping can succeed even with a smaller organization,” said J Matthew Nix, project lead for Chicago Projection Mapping. “We’re exceptionally proud of the work that we do for every project, from national brands to local non-profits."

This display signals Chicago Projection Mapping’s continued focus on expanding projection beyond conventional applications. In addition to large scale activations like event staging and corporate keynote events, CPM also creates smaller scale activations, kiosks, trade show displays, and interactive applications.
