Outcome Engenuity (Oe) will hold a three-day Just Culture Certification Course August 4-6, 2015 in Jacksonville, Fla., hosted by University of Florida - Florida Health. The Jacksonville Just Culture Certification Course provides participants with necessary tools and practical techniques, building competency and belief in Just Culture in order to produce better outcomes and reduce adverse events in the workplace.

“People are recognizing that the issue of justice isn’t simple,” David Marx, Oe CEO and Father of Just Culture, said. “There is some complexity to it.

“There are multiple types of duties that we human beings have - whether it’s to produce outcomes, whether it’s to avoid harm or whether it’s to follow sort of ‘how-to’ procedural rules. And we take all of the notions of Justice and we boil them down into a...class that we call the Just Culture Certification Course,” Marx continued.

During the course, participants will receive invaluable comprehensive instruction in the Five Skills Model, while becoming highly efficient with the Just Culture Algorithm (v3.2). They will learn how to champion a positive cultural shift, fostering learning and justice.

Participants will have the opportunity to gather together with other individuals across a variety of industries to share experiences while working toward Just Culture Certification together.

Oe Advisor, Ellen McDermott, J.D., will instruct the Jacksonville Just Culture Certification Course. McDermott has worked with organizations from a wide variety of industries to achieve better outcomes through the application of the Just Culture model. McDermott is an Army veteran with leadership experience in law enforcement.

About Just Culture
“Just Culture” is a process to implement organizational improvement, presenting a set of design laws that influence the ability to create desired societal outcomes. The five-skills model is designed to help change an organization’s culture by placing less focus on events, errors and outcomes, and more focus on risk, system design and the management of behavioral choices. It does this by defining three manageable behaviors based on an event’s degree of risk—human error, at-risk behavior and reckless behavior—and it strongly encourages the creation of an environment of free and open reporting within process systems. This helps to build a culture which encourages coaching and honesty at all levels, in order to bring about the best possible outcomes. Just Culture has been implemented by various organizations in such high-risk industries as healthcare, aviation and nuclear power to name a few.
