Child Therapy Online Training: Center for Child Counseling Launches Venture to Support Effective Counseling and Services for Young Children
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida (PRWEB) August 14, 2015 -- Center for Child Counseling is proud to introduce weLEARNplay™, an online training program for mental health and early childhood professionals. The program was born out of the Center for Child Counseling’s vision to promote the use of effective strategies among professionals working with vulnerable young children and their caregivers.
Supported by a grant from West Palm Beach-based Quantum Foundation, weLEARNplay™ was created as a venture to help Center for Child Counseling develop a reliable and sustainable source of income to support the expansion of its mission. “This is our area of expertise and we love the idea of sharing that valuable knowledge with others, wherever they may be, while at the same time creating income for the Center that allows us to continue our core work,” said Renée Layman, Chief Executive Officer at the Center for Child Counseling.
weLEARNplay™ includes a series of interactive, online training modules on a variety of mental health topics and interventions, including Play Therapy, Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health, and Filial Therapy. The goal is to educate and provide students, caregivers, and professionals working with young children effective strategies to address the social-emotional wellness of children and their caregivers. Trainees will be able to immediately apply skills learned to their work with children and families.
In fulfilling its mission as a nonprofit organization, one of the Center for Child Counseling’s primary goals is to educate and supervise mental health professionals and students on effective clinical models and strategies for working with young children, their families and caregivers. Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health is a highly specialized field, with limited opportunities and multiple barrier to accessing quality training, with an increasing demand for community-based services among children under the age of 5.
“weLEARNplay™ will give busy professionals the opportunity to engage in quality training, with exposure to best practices that they can immediately implement,” said Ms. Layman. "Professionals working with young children and their families need to be firmly grounded in the core knowledge and skills necessary to provide family-centered, culturally competent, and developmentally appropriate services across the continuum of early childhood mental health. By providing quality, easily accessible training online, we can effectively address this concern for busy professionals.”
