Salient announces Performance Optimized PowerProtect NVR’s for All-In-One Video Solutions

The PowerProtect platform extends the limits of operational capabilities of video surveillance systems. The PowerPro-R, in a newly designed 2U form factor supports up to 30TB RAID5 storage, offers quad NIC’s and 75% increased performance. The PowerPlus and PowerUltra units each support 30TB and 66TB RAID5, respectively, and support PowerDAS (direct attached storage) with 11TB, 22TB, 33TB or 44TB capacity in a single RAID5 array. “Salient is thrilled to offer competitive, next-generation servers which will deliver the power required for state-of-the-art video management systems” says Brian Carle, director of product strategy. “The goal of the PowerProtect optimized platform is to achieve the highest performance and value for our customers as video surveillance technology continues to advance at an ever increasing pace,” adds Carle.
The optimized PowerProtect line, combined with Dynamic Video Management, a suite of tools recently released in CompleteView v4.5, is specifically designed to optimize CPU usage, manage load and latency and minimize bandwidth usage as customers realize the power of Salient’s all-in-one solution.
The 3 D’s in the Dynamic Video Management suite are Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS), Dynamic Video Decoding (DVD) and Dynamic Frame Throttling (DFT). DRS delivers the most appropriately sized video stream based on the display size of the viewing client thereby reducing bandwidth consumption. DVD controls server processing for camera streams based on live viewing or server motion detection settings, saving CPU usage. DFT allows the server to monitor camera video queues balancing load and latency without affecting recorded video.
