Anne Gilbert Publications: Addictions and Sex a Deadly Mix Warns Dr. James Strawbridge in New Book
(PRWEB) July 08, 2015 -- "Whether an addicted person is married or otherwise sexually involved, the relationship usually takes a hit," says addictions specialist Dr. James Strawbridge. In his new book, 'Unraveling The Psychological Mystery Of Addictions', he advises that online dating is not the place to go, since the addict can't make wise decisions.
Probably nobody suffers more than the married spouse of an addict, as the book explains, when either male or female partners engage in promiscuity. The alcoholic or drug addict thinks only of their own pleasure, breaking the bond of intimacy and shared experiences.
"Probably the worst affected is the alcoholic woman who gets romantically involved with an alcoholic or drug addicted man. The 'one night stand affair' only adds to this insecurity," observes Strawbridge.
One of his taped interviews with an alcoholic woman, now in recovery, details the psychological events that led to her addiction. Like so many addicted, she was genetically and socially programmed. Her parents were alcoholics. But, as the book interview explains, not everyone so disposed will become an alcoholic. However, the odds are greater. Other life experiences and events can create a psychological predisposition to drugs and alcohol, are detailed in the book.
The book can be purchased on line at Amazon Books, Green Ivy Publishers, and Barnes and Noble on demand. $15.00. Kindle, $11.00
