Sorrel Sky Hosts Numerous Events in Conjunction With 2015 Santa Fe Indian Market
Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) July 08, 2015 -- Sorrel Sky Gallery will host a series of events in conjunction with the 2015 Santa Fe Indian Market, bringing together some of the most influential artists alive today.
On Thursday, August 20, Sorrel Sky opens its Native American Group Show spotlighting new works by contemporary Native American jewelry artists Ben Nighthorse, Ray Tracey, Cody Sanderson, Victoria Adams, Darryl Dean & Rebecca Begay, Shane Hendren, and Santa Clara potter Autumn Borts-Medlock. Collectively, these artists have received distinctions from the most prestigious institutions in America including the Heard Museum and the National Museum of the American Indian to the Smithsonian Institution and the Santa Fe Indian Market. A reception for the artists will be held from 5:00 to 7:30pm.
Beginning on Friday, August 21, the gallery presents work by its entire selection of distinguished artists and hosts a reception from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. for this all-inclusive show. Included are Western art champions Billy Schenck,Greg Kelsey, Duke Beardsley, Tom Palmore and Carrie Fell among others.
On Monday, August 24 from 9:00-10:30 a.m., the gallery will host a brunch and reception with respected Navajo sculptor, Pablita Abeyta, who helped establish the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian. As the Congressional liaison to the Smithsonian, Abeyta worked tirelessly to found the museum, which hosted the largest gathering of Native American communities in history at its opening.
