Author Lorraine Bassett believes man’s deepest connections to Spirit exist in their most aboriginal forms.

Author Lorraine Bassett believes man’s deepest connections to Spirit exist in their most aboriginal forms. She drives this point home in her spiritual book, “The Vine of the Soul” (published by Balboa Press), in which she recounts the things she learned about the spirit world from shamans in the Amazon rain forest. Her book is pursuing a wider audience this year through press materials and a promotional tour.
Bassett’s passion and curiosity for all things spiritual led her to the Amazon, where she lived with the Shipibo shamans. The shamans took Bassett into their sacred space, where they ritualistically use the ayahuasca vine to commune with the spirit realm – an experience she would never forget.
An excerpt from “The Vine of the Soul”:
“As I looked in awe at the light, I became aware of a presence in the room with me, something ominous and dark. I understood that this presence would always be one step ahead of me no matter who needed my aid. When I turned to face this darkness, I saw a man on a chariot. As I gazed upon him, I felt for the first time that I was encountering pure evil.”
