Harbor House Child Day Care Center Celebrates 20 years of Playing a Vital Role in Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group’s Hingham Nursing Center
Hingham MA (PRWEB) July 13, 2015 -- Harbor House Child Day Care Center, the onsite children’s pre-school program at Harbor House Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hingham, will mark its 20th anniversary this fall. The center, opened in 1995 and licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care, consists of three classrooms – for infants, toddlers and pre-school children. In addition to the program director, a staff of six certified teachers cares for 28 children, ranging in age from 6-weeks to 5-years.
“The day care children are a wonderful part of the social programs at the nursing center, bringing continued joy to our staff and residents,” says Susan Jessup, administrator of Harbor House.
According to the U.S. Administration on Aging by 2030, one in every five Americans will be 65 or older. “It’s important for young children to develop positive relationships with older adults, it promotes a healthy view of aging,” says Kristen Welch Fasano, director of Harbor House Child Day Care Center. The intergenerational programs at Harbor House are fun for everyone involved says Fasano, noting that all four of her children attended the child day care center when they were younger. The children and residents of Harbor House participate in a variety of scheduled activities including holiday parties, themed days, music programs and weekly exercise classes. “The joy in the eyes of both the children and the seniors is unmistakable,” adds Fasano. “You can’t help but have a permanent smile on your face as you watch them together.”
The children also interact with members of the onsite Adult Day Memory Care Program at Harbor House as well as the adjacent assisted living community, Allerton House at Harbor Park.
