Infocast is proud to announce the first-ever NY REV Summit: Reforming the Energy Vision, has outgrown its original venue, and is now being held at the New York Marriott Downtown. The two-day event, taking place July 29-30 provides fresh thinking surrounding the impact of the REV initiative not only on the New York energy industry, but also on the future structure of utilities across the US.

The REV initiative is a massive overhaul of the existing electrical system in NY, set to “reform” the state’s energy landscape by moving toward a decentralized, market-based structure, lowering costs and providing consumers with a clean, resilient energy system. As New York continues to move forward with the REV initiative, the New York State Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has announced it will back seven new projects focused exclusively on modernizing technologies in order to create a cleaner, more efficient grid, utilizing renewables, thus reducing the need for traditional fuels.

All seven of the NYSERDA projects will be created by members of the New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium, and will focus on "bench-to-prototype" technologies aimed at moving clean-technology energy storage devices from the lab to the marketplace. These new projects build upon Governor Andrew Cuomo’s REV, adding to the five clean energy initiatives approved by the state last year.

The New York REV Summit brings together a diverse group of thought leaders, regulators, policy makers and utilities to engage in a discussion on the development of “distributed system platforms” (DSPs), comprehensive reforms will reconfigure utility regulation and provide new means of investment recovery, as well as emerging opportunities for third parties to provide grid services.
