This is an incredible opportunity for both clients and guests to not only learn about the war on drugs from an individual serving on the front lines, but also for the audience to get a different perspective on “medical” marijuana and drug policy.
Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) July 15, 2015
Pasadena Recovery Center is pleased to welcome former Senior Adviser to the Clinton, Bush, and Obama administrations, Kevin Sabet, Ph.D, on Tuesday, July 21 at noon. Dr. Sabet currently directs the Institute on Drug Policy at The University of Florida and is a consultant working with governments, NGOs, the media, and other organizations on drug related issues. His areas of specialization include evidence-based drug prevention, treatment, and law enforcement, as well as the ramifications of drug legalization and “medical” marijuana.
Dr. Sabet’s expertise and knowledge regarding the use of drugs in The United States, as well as the controversy that is the legalization of marijuana throughout the country, can help guide those battling with recovery to a more successful understanding of the impact their sobriety can have on our society as a whole.
Mackenzie Phillips, actress and Treatment and Recovery Advocate at Pasadena Recovery Center, will be introducing Dr. Sabet, and after the talk there will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.
“We are honored to have Dr. Sabet as our featured speaker this month,” said Phillips. “This is an incredible opportunity for both clients and guests to not only learn about the war on drugs from an individual serving on the front lines, but also for the audience to get a different perspective on “medical” marijuana and drug policy.”
Pasadena Recovery Center Speaker Series hosts amazing authors, entrepreneurs, celebrities, and experts to talk about their personal experiences with addiction and recovery and the way it has affected both themselves and the people around them.
Kevin Sabet’s political career began during the Clinton and Bush Administrations, and he was a Senior Adviser up until 2011 in the Obama Administration. During the Obama Administration, Dr. Sabet became the only drug policy staffer to have ever served on both Democratic and Republican administrations. He has appeared since at the Aspen Ideas and New Yorker festivals, on the Organization of American States blue ribbon commission advising hemispheric drug policy, and in hundreds of forums and discussions promoting the ideas outlined in his first book, Reefer Sanity: Seven Great Myths About Marijuana, published by Beaufort. He has been featured on the front page of the New York Times and in virtually every major media publication and news channel on the subject of drug policy.
