The fourth annual Vincentric Best Value in Canada™ awards were announced today, with Toyota earning the title of Best Value Passenger Vehicle Brand, Lexus receiving the Best Value Luxury Brand award, and Ram claiming the Best Value Truck Brand. In addition, Vincentric announced the Best Value in Canada vehicle models across multiple consumer market segments.
Toyota Motor Corporation took home the most awards of any manufacturer with winners from its Toyota, Lexus, and Scion brands spread across multiple vehicle categories. Volkswagen Group earned all seven of its awards in the passenger car category with winning vehicles from its Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche brands. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Honda Motor Company, Ford Motor Company, Kia Motors Corporation, and General Motors also did well, with each manufacturer earning multiple awards.
Several auto manufacturers had award winning vehicles across many vehicle segments," stated David Wurster, President of Vincentric. “Manufacturers are increasingly monitoring and managing total cost of ownership to better compete with their rivals while offering significant choices and value for consumers.”
Vincentric measures cost-of-ownership in Canada using eight different cost factors: depreciation, fees & taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs. Using a statistical model, the company identified the Vincentric Best Value in Canada winners by measuring which vehicles had lower than expected ownership costs given their market segment and price. Each vehicle was evaluated in all 10 provinces plus the Northwest Territories using a range of annual kilometer intervals and insurance profiles.
