Thirty years after the hit TV series ‘Puttin on the Hits’ first debuted, the nationwide search is on once again. The creator of the original 80’s show announced today that producers are looking for the very best, lip-syncing performers and tribute bands across America, and it’s all for Charity.
Show producers encourage, venue operators, radio stations and charity organizations to participate by hosting the search. Operators will receive how-to instructions, and all the POS, and contest materials, necessary to run the audition process according to national guidelines. Each operator will be given the opportunity to donate a percentage of revenues to their favorite charity on Grand Final night.
“It’s very exciting, Lip sync contests are once again gaining popularity among young adults in schools, clubs, malls, and as fundraisers” says Wm. Randy Wood, the creator and consulting producer of the original show and the driving force behind the national search. In the 80’s Puttin’ on the Hits generated a 9.0 rating the first year on television, it featured ordinary people from all walks of life not just celebrities. The national search gives ordinary people who can’t sing the chance to be the star they always wanted to be™ and possibly be discovered.”
Local celebrity judges and the audience will score contestants on their lip sync ability, use of the microphone, and look-a-like appearance of a famous music artist or group. Winners from each host venue may advance to regional and national finals, where the top vote getters representing their cities will be selected by celebrity judges and audience text voting. Operators are encouraged to visit the web site for more information on how to sign up.
