Scotsman Guide Hires Veteran Journalist, Bill Conroy, as Managing Editor

Scotsman Guide Media, publisher of two national monthly trade magazines targeting mortgage professionals, has hired veteran investigative journalist and editor, Bill Conroy, in the new position of managing editor. Conroy was previously editor-in-chief of the San Antonio Business Journal, where he worked and climbed the ranks for nearly two decades.

Conroy’s appointment and the creation of the new position are part of Scotsman Guide Media’s business-expansion plans. With the recovery of the mortgage market, the two editions of Scotsman Guide have reached nearly precrisis page numbers, setting the company on the path to expand its editorial content and resources.

“We have many ambitious near-term and long-term plans for expanding our editorial offerings,” said Rania Efthemes, Scotsman Guide Media’s editor in chief. “Conroy’s experience and background will be instrumental in refining our editorial content in print and online.”

Nearly 18 months ago, Scotsman Guide Media, known for its online resources for lenders and mortgage originators in both the residential and commercial markets, released its redesigned website,, and shortly afterward it launched an online section dedicated to covering mortgage news.
