Santa Fe University of Art and Design (SFUAD) contributing faculty member, Brad Bergsbaken, has joined the university full-time as faculty chair of the Business Arts Management Department. In addition to chairing the Business Arts Management Department at SFUAD, Bergsbaken will lead the Arts Management Speaker Series that began in Spring 2015 and that connects student majors with prominent leaders in the Santa Fe art and business community. He will also drive the university’s efforts to provide opportunities for Arts Management students to bring theory to practice through hands-on experience both on- and off- campus. This includes collaboration with other students in university-wide projects such as Shoot the Stars!™, Outdoor Vision Fest® and Artists for Positive Social Change®, as well as off-campus local and regional internships.

Bergsbaken holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of New Mexico (UNM) and has been teaching economics and business courses at SFUAD since Spring 2014. Previously, he has served as an instructor for the American Economic Association's Summer Program, UNM’s Center for Teaching Excellence and Teaching Assistant Resource Center, as well as the Department of Economics at UNM, teaching courses that range from Introductory Economics to upper-division theory. He received the Susan Deese-Roberts Award for Outstanding Teaching in 2012, presented by UNM Faculty Senate Teaching Enhancement Committee.

“I’m really enthusiastic about the opportunity to work with SFUAD students here on a full-time basis,” said Bergsbaken. “My goal is to be a champion for the students and ensure their success both academically and in the professional world. I look forward to leveraging the existing opportunities at the university for Arts Management students to participate in on-site internship work, as well as developing and expanding the concentrations within the Arts Management degree that enable students to develop a skillset and level of experience that will make them competitive in the marketplace.”
